“Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.” – 1 Cor 16:13
Another blog?? I thought and prayed about starting this blog for awhile. It seems I have a hard time keeping up with my other one, After Sundays. So why another blog? Mainly because this blog has a totally different purpose. After Sundays was intended to give a glimpse into our life in ministry and church and serves as a way for some to keep up with what’s going on with our family. In other words, it helps me communicate events.
The purpose of Standing Amidst The Rubble is to discuss modern Christianity, church life, and world events from the Pauline perspective. There is a great need to address the practical and doctrinal deficiencies we find in the Body of Christ today. Yes, it is my view that the Church (Body of Christ) is in chaos. Because many do not know their own identity in Christ, do not know how to function properly in Christ, do not understand what God is actually accomplishing today, we are in crisis. Those who should stand for the Word of God, absolute truth, and righteousness are in spiritual ruins. Thus, the rubble.
I do not claim to have a corner on the Truth. But nonetheless I believe I do have the Truth. Those of us who believe the Word of God is true and our final authority in all matters stand amidst the rubble. Those of us who believe the Gospel of the Grace of God is the true gospel amongst a plethora of competing gospels stand amidst the rubble. Those of us who believe the verses in Word of God understood in their proper context stand amidst the rubble. Those of us who believe we are complete in Christ and sufficient in His grace stand amidst the rubble. Those of us who believe that the spiritual organism through which God is working today is the Body of Christ stand amidst the rubble.
I invite you to come back occasionally. I invite you to check out what you find said here and test it against the truth of God’s Word. Finally, I invite you to clear a little space, get your feet on some solid ground and stand with me amidst the rubble.
Hi, Glen,
If you turn your head slightly, you’ll see that I’m already standing with you “amidst the rubble”! It’s an honor to be here among like-minded grace believers who aren’t afraid to proclaim the Pauline revelation with boldness and clarity.
It makes me want to cry sometimes when I see all around me the superstition, pagan ritual, confusion, heartache, and disappointment that surrounds those who try to mix Israel’s truth with God’s truth for us, the the Body of Christ. It’s no wonder unbelievers laugh us to scorn! If we can’t even agree among ourselves, what do we have to attract someone to the truth?
That’s why it’s so important that those of us who do know the truth stand for it and let what Christ is doing through us shine brightly into a lost world.
Your sister in the grace of Christ,
Deborah
